Too busy to fix that domain registration issue until now. Dunno whether doing it from Indonesia was a good thing, but let’s hear it for https and supposed privacy…
Anyway, I am in JKT, one more day and I’ll go back home – or whatever Bordeaux means now, as Hong Kong will definitely be our next casa within a few weeks…
Jakarta is a shithole, heavily polluted, evil traffic, noisy, the streets full of beggars, rent-a-cops, mopeds and motor vehicles of uncertain form and shape. The infrastructure is a mess, it’s Seoul on steroids and LSD, a nightmare happening every day and night. The fact that you become an instant millionaire when changing 100€ is not a redeeming quality, and yeah, JKT is cheap. But cheap shit is still caca… I can’t wait to leave, and hope I’ll never come back. Fat chance, I just found myself a client. Sigh…
In comparison, Kuala Lumpur was nice, friendly – oh yeah, what happened to that All-Indonesians-Smile-All-Day thing? – green, almost efficient [I said almost], English-friendly, and business oriented. And cheap, ish. A younger, budding Singapore of sorts. Singapore was, well, Singapore, beautiful, efficient, not cheap, full of nice and not so nice people intent on making a buck or two, or a million.
HK is HK. Our new home, concrete, sea, and mountains all wrapped in one, noisy, efficient, cramped, lively, not so English friendly anymore – don’t care, 我學粵語 – and smack in the middle of my area of responsibility. Did I mention good food too?
More later.
