07/03 I would’ve loved to be on the same plane
A professor from Yonsei’s [the name of the University is not mentionned, but they say it’s a top-class university, and call it “Y”, only one option here… Likewise, it would be easy to find who is this Mr. Jung, aged 461] administration department got drunk on a plane, and when the attendant refused to give him more booze, he threw his dish at her [he was flying business, so that was a real bone-china dish… Could hurt]. When told to sit down after a trek to the carsey, he attacked a male attendant. After making himself more of a nuisance, he was finally strapped to his seat, and delivered to the police on arrival at Inch’ŏn… According to the article, other biz class passengers also asked the shite be immobilized… I have the feeling that, had I been on the plane, with my previous record, the man wouldn’t have made a mess for 30 minutes, it would have stopped 5 minutes into it. Of course, there’s the distinct possibility that two people would have been delivered to the po-lice, but it sure would have been a better lesson…
He may be fined up to 5 million won, and jailed for up to 5 years [for interfering with the safety of the plane, since apparently he went to the cockpit], but I have no confidence in the Korean judicial system. The guy will get scott free. I mean, he declared that:
정 교수는 경찰에서 “술에 취해 정신이 없는 상태에서 실수를 한 것 같다”고 말한 것으로 알려졌다.
It seems that being drunk and having lost my mind, I made a mistake…
This is the country where people are asked to forgive assault, [verbal] abuse and the like “because he was drunk”. Admitting to be drunk means he’s got most of the work done. Slap on the wrist, will probably travel on Asiana instead for a while, and that’s it…
Crazy country…
1 An enterprising fellow tells me that it could be this guy…
