05/31 Let’s talk dirty

Cul is “ass” in French, but is also widely used with the meaning of “sex” (a piece of ass sounds vaguely related too :-) ). Well, un site de cul is a pr0n site, of course. So here’s, via Damien, cul.org, un site de cul, well, maybe not…

From the HTML source:

window.name=”homesite”; // will not work in Netscape Navigator 2 as name is read only

w00t! NN2… Where have these people been the last 10 years? Oh well, it’s a cfm-”powered” (snicker) site, which uses MAPs?!?!
No wonder… :-)

05/30 Extremists…

Reading blogs, mostly French, about the victory yesterday over that gawdforshaken Treaty, one thing that keeps coming is The extremists won. Frig that. 55% extremists in the ole country? Sure. That people could oppose so massively the Treaty, even with last-minute tricks like allowing people in cities in favour of Yes (Paris, Lyon) to vote until 10pm, while closing early in cities in favour of No (Bordeaux, Marseille, Toulouse), shouldn’t it tell doomsday prophets that maybe, just maybe, that farking project was a bit too rich? That maybe people, especially in over-taxed France, don’t want Polish plumbers to get their jobs, while the EU pumps our tax money into Slovenia or Lithuania? That we *really* believe Turkey belongs to the Middle-East and should be kept there? Bringing a semblance of economic prosperity to Spain and Portugal, and then Greece, was a very painful process. And it was gradual. What good can happen with so many paupers unleashed onto us? And with more to come? No, sorry, life’s hard enough for people here, we don’t need to shoulder other countries burden, and we sure don’t need to expand the membership, especially towards the Middle-East.

And meanwhile the yes-voters celebrated Mother’s day, an invention by the Pétain government from the good old days of WWII. Sigh…

05/30 Partial PNG support!

I have partial PNG support in fPic (since I am writing the code from scratch, I still consider this as a success :-) ). 8-bit PNGs with a colour palette seem to be the easiest to process. At least, without interlacing. *That* is going to be interesting… Adam7 me arse, right…

05/30 fPic digs Tiff

Added TIFF support via libtiff, which was easy enough. Is it just me, or TIFF is a dang bizarre format? Not only the byte order is way up the yahzoo scale (ABGR, wdf?), but in the end I had to rot180 and hMirror the image buffer in order to get a correct image… Damn weird. Lucky I had those fast square-angle rotation routines up and running already!

(lib)PNG is still escaping me, I am down now to producing my own. Grrr.

If you wonder what the image represents, it’s a Jurchen character. Reads “tasha” and means Tiger. Yup.

05/30 He’s one of them

Not too many “tough guy” on the screen are as bad (or worse) in real life. Apparently, Vinnie Jones is:

Played 384 league games and scored 33 goals in his soccer career, most of them with Wimbledon. He was sent off more than ten times.

Holds the record for being the quickest player ever to be yellow-carded in a game of professional soccer. He was booked 3 seconds into the game.

Is banned from flying on Virgin Atlantic after causing a fight on a flight to Tokyo.
